Visitor Information

Planning Your Visit:

Many recently admitted students visit SILS between the months of January through March, since this is when the majority of Fall admissions decisions are released by SILS, but the school welcomes visitors year round. We suggest you avoid coming during the first two weeks of school, Fall or Spring Break, University holidays, during final exams or Commencement as these times tend to be very busy for both students, faculty and staff. Please pay attention to the academic calendar which is available on the Registrar’s Office website under Academic Calendars.

Please contact the SILS Office at 919-962-8366 to schedule your visit. We welcome visitors Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Please provide us with the day you wish to visit and times that work best with your schedule that day. We will try to accommodate you as best we can. We can usually arrange that you meet with a member of our Student Services Staff who can gladly answer any questions you might have and show you around Manning Hall. Additional requests for visitors we are able to accommodate:

  • Attending a class
  • Meeting with a faculty member
  • Lunch or coffee with a current student

UNC Visitor’s Center

  • Sign up for a Campus Tour led by current UNC graduate students! A tour of campus is a great way to learn about the UNC campus and it’s history.

Visitor Parking:

The University and the Town of Chapel Hill own lots that are within walking distance of campus and several are close to Manning Hall including the Morehead Planetarium Lot, Rams Head Lot, and the Rosemary Street Parking Deck.
