Social Media: Uses and Misuses

Start Time:
October 28, 2010 - 2:30pm - 3:45pm
Location:
FPG Student Union, Room 3411

In a rapidly changing world of social media, we have new opportunities to connect and interact with people--and new opportunities to cause damage to ourselves and our peers. How can we best use these tools? How can we avoid misusing them?

On October 28th, join us as four distinguished experts at UNC discuss the uses and misuses of social media. Panelists will include:
--Anne Klinefelter, Associate Professor of Law and Director of the Law Library

--Paul Jones, Director of ibiblio.org and Clinical Associate Professor, School of Journalism and Mass Communication and School of Information and Library Science

--Fred Stutzman, doctoral candidate, School of Information and Library Science

--Will Cross, Digital Copyright Specialist, University Library; master's candidate, School of Information and Library Science.

Panelists will offer their opinions and expertise on the ways social media affect our lives, and the audience will be invited to join the conversation through questions and comments.

Questions may be directed to the event's organizer, Tyler Dzuba (dzuba@email.unc.edu).
