| José-Marie Griffiths is Dean and a Professor of the School of Information and Library Science (SILS) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Griffiths has a research and administrative career that spans 30 years. She was recently appointed by the President to the United States National Science Board for a term of six years. She has held two previous presidential appointments, one to the President's Information Technology Advisory Committee from 2003 to 2005, and the other to the U.S. National Commission on Libraries and Information Science from 1996 to 2002. She is the recipient of numerous awards for her contributions to information science, information technology for higher education, the development of IT industry in Michigan, and community networking in Tennessee. She holds a B.Sc. in Physics and Ph.D. in Information Science from University College London. |
