José-Marie Griffiths is Dean and a Professor of the School of Information and Library Science (SILS) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Griffiths has a research and administrative career that spans 30 years. Recently nominated by President George W. Bush to serve on the U.S. National Science Board, Dr. Griffiths has served as a member of the U.S. President’s Information Technology Advisory Committee (PITAC), and as a member of the U.S. National Commission on Libraries and Information Science (NCLIS). She is the recipient of numerous awards for her contributions to information science, information technology for higher education, the development of IT industry in Michigan, and community networking in Tennessee. She holds a B.Sc. (Honors) in Physics and Ph.D. in Information Science from University College London.
