Remote Access

Remote access to software is provided in several ways including the following:

1. ITS Virtual Lab

ITS offers a wide array of applications remotely through its ITS Virtual Lab service.  Using a small Citrix remote client student have instant remote access to applications typically install on on-campus lab computers.  You can browse a full list of available applications and find out more about this service.

2. SILS VCL

SILS IT services offers remote access to many common SILS applications through the Virtual Computing Lab (VCL) service.  Using the VCL students with a network connection can connect to a Windows desktop at any time from any location.  The SILS VCL image include the entire Office 2008 suite, Adobe CS3 and the Oxygen XML editor.  Information on setting up a VCL session is available at SILS VCL.

3. SILS Doctoral Lab

Doctoral students can use a Remote Desktop client to access any of the six PCs located in room 303 and 310.  When connecting remotely, first establish a VPN connection.  Once the VPN connection is open, run your Remote Desktop program.  Be sure to specify your user name as "ad\onyen" (without the quotes).  Substitute "onyen" with your onyen username and provide your onyen password.  The computer names are as follows:
