 Copy a CD in the SILS Lab


Before copying CDs, please see [ http://www.unc.edu/atn/policy/copyinfringe.html ] the University's policy on copyright infringement . The document states that " Copying, distributing, downloading, and uploading information on the Internet may infringe the copyright for that information. Violations of law may also be referred for criminal or civil prosecution. Since copyright infringement is a violation of the student code of conduct, instances involving student infringement may be referred to the Student Attorney General. "

  Roxio Disc Copier

You will only use this software at a computer that has only one CD drive.

  1. Insert the CD you want to copy from into the CD drive.

  2. Go to: StartProgramsCD BurningScanning Roxio Easy CD Creator 5ApplicationsDisc Copier

  3. On the Source and Destination tab, you should see drive E: in both the Copy from and Record to drop-downs. Leave these set to this default. You will see a warning below the Record to menu that your disc is not a blank recordable disc. This is fine.

  4. If you wish to make more than one copy of the same disc, click the Advanced tab and adjust the number of copies. You can also make other adjustments to your settings here. Go back to the Source and Destination tab when you are done.

  5. Press Copy.

  6. The software will check the disc for errors, then record the information on your disc into memory. This may take several minutes, depending on how much data is on the disc. When it has finished, it will open the CD tray with the message, The CD in the CD Recorder is not blank. Please insert a blank CD into the CD Recorder.

  7. Remove your original disc, insert a blank one, and close the tray.

  8. The software will write the data from the original disc onto your blank one.

  9. Close the program when you have made all the copies you want.
