How do I Get Software?
Where can I find software for my laptop?
UNC Shareware
PDF reader, antivirus, browsers, email, OpenAFS, SFTP, SSH, VPN, Winzip
Lab Copies of Software
Visio, Access, Project, OneNote, Windows XP, Windows Vista
- Go to: http://msdn04.e-academy.com/unc_lis
- Select 'Log in' at the left. Your Username is always your full UNC email address (username@email.unc.edu). If you do not know your password, click 'here' under 'I've forgotten my password' and your password will be emailed to your UNC account.
- Once you have logged in, select the 'Software' tab on the top of the screen. Select the software you would like to install. You will be able to either download the software or check out a CD from the SILS lab. Ensure that your preferred method is selected, then click 'Add to Cart'.
- Agree to the Guidelines. Select 'Check Out' when you have added all of the software you want. Ensure your information is filled out and click 'Next'.
- Click on the software title to get the serial number for installation.
- If you have opted to download the software, you will be able to do so from this page. The ELMS site provides downloads in the form of .ISO files, which are disk image files. In order to "open" these files, you must download software that either burns the file to a CD or creates a "virtual" CD of the file. If you have opted to check out the CD from the lab, you can borrow a CD of the software from a Lab Assistant. Install on your laptop or copy to your own CD.
