SILS Library

Our branch library collection contains 100,000 volumes with comprehensive resources in the subject areas of library and information science. As the enrollment numbers increase at SILS, students are especially glad to have convenient access to our substantial collection of print and electronic books.

The rate of collection growth remains steady, and the average number of books purchased every year is 2,000 titles. Our collection of juvenile books is growing and includes a core collection of graphic novels for children and adults. We have 988 journal titles that support the School of Library and Information Science curriculum, especially in the subject areas of computer science and library science. Additionally, this library, which is centrally located near Lenoir Dining Hall and Davis Library has the only full-service children’s collection on the UNC – Chapel Hill campus. You’ll find The Very Hungry Caterpillar for the younger reader, as well as the Harry Potter and Twilight series. Our collection contains something for everyone, so stop by today or e-mail us at silslibrary@unc.edu with any questions.
