Calling all web designers -- help create the new SILS website and win $200!
Ever look at the SILS home page and think, "I could do better than that?" Here's your chance: The SILS Website Redesign Committee is seeking new design ideas from SILS students.
We'll award $200 to the best submission (as determined by the committee, on the basis of elegance, clarity, usability, and suitability to purpose). Individual and team submissions are both welcome; team members will share the prize money. The deadline is 11:59 p.m., Monday, Feb. 2. We'll announce the winner on Monday, Feb. 16.
What we're looking for: designs for two web pages ...
1) the new SILS home page
2) a page template suitable for use with all content pages linked from the
home page
- We'll give you: a site map; comments from participants in our focus group;
and the SILS logo. - You'll give us: URL for your design (must be functioning HTML--graphical
mockups are not sufficient).
Both page designs should include sufficient navigation features to enable users of the website to understand the scope of the site, and easily navigate to different areas of the site.
Interested? Download the site map, comments and logo from http://www.ils.unc.edu/ils/releases/RELEASE_webContest2.html and get started. Email your URL to Catherine Lazorko [lazorko@unc.edu] by 11:59 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 2, to have your design considered by the committee.
Only current SILS students (as of spring semester 2004) are eligible to compete in the contest. All submissions become property of SILS. We reserve the right not to award a prize in the case that none of the designs meet our criteria.
