Mary Gabehart wins ASIS&T's Pratt-Severn Best Student Research Paper Award

Mary Gabehart has received the Pratt-Severn Best Student Research Paper Award offered by the American Society of Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T). The award was presented in Charlotte, NC during the awards ceremony of the annual international conference. Gabehart also presented her paper, which is titled, "An analysis of citations to retracted articles in the scientific literature."

Gabehart will receive round-trip travel and registration to the ASIS&T annual meeting for up to $500, a certificate and possible submission of her paper for publication in the Journal of the American Society for Information Science (JASIST).

The award is intended to "encourage student research and writing in the area of information science." It was established in 1972 and since 1996 the award has been sponsored by the Pratt Institute, School of Information and Library Science, in honor of David Severn.

Gabehart works as a technical services librarian at Cato Research in Durham.
