The School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites nominations and applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank.
The SILS faculty seek an outstanding colleague with significant research and teaching strengths in areas related to biomedical imaging including: image archives, information organization, information retrieval, data mining, image processing, human computer interactions, and visualization. Prior interdisciplinary collaborations in a clinical setting with MD's and clinician scientists and/or successful prior research experience in medical imaging would be assets. The successful candidate will also be affiliated with the UNC Biomedical Research Imaging Center (BRIC), a multidisciplinary Center that furthers the science of imaging and serves the imaging needs of basic scientists at UNC and beyond.
Faculty are expected to engage in research, teach, advise students, participate in School, University, and professional activities, and otherwise share their expertise at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The School offers the Bachelor of Science in Information Science, Master of Science in Information Science, Master of Science in Library Science, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. The School also offers an undergraduate minor in information systems, a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Information and Library Science, and a post-master's certificate in school library media. An earned doctorate is required. Candidates should provide evidence of research and teaching excellence, or potential for excellence, in their area of expertise. The faculty seeks an outstanding colleague with significant research and teaching strengths/potential appropriate to the broad field of information and library science. Applications are particularly sought in the following areas:

Reference services, collection development and/or instructional design, and

Information or information system design and evaluation.
Faculty are expected to engage in research, teach, advise students, participate in School, University, and professional activities, and otherwise share their expertise at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
