Dr. David Carr to speak on "An American Library in an American community"
Dr. David Carr, associate professor, will speak on "An American Library in an American Community" at the Friends of New Hanover County Public Library Annual Meeting, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13. The free program will be in the New Hanover Room on the third floor of the Main Library in Wilmington, North Carolina.
"A community's library," Carr says, "is about aspirations, best possibilities, and trust among its users." Carr earned an MA at Columbia University’s Teachers College, and his MLS and Ph.D. at Rutgers. Some of his areas of interest for research and public speaking are reading for pleasure, concepts of service, and cultural institutions.
