Former member of SILS Board of Visitors nominated archivist of the United States

Photo of David Ferriero President Obama announced yesterday his intent to nominate former School of Information and Library Science Board of Visitors member, David Ferriero, as Archivist of the United States. As Archivist, Ferriero will oversee the National Archives and Records Administration, "the nation's record keeper." The nomination has been sent to the Senate for approval.

Ferriero has been the Andrew W. Mellon director and chief executive of The Research Libraries at The New York Public Library since September 2004. He previously was the Rita DiGiallonardo Holloway University Librarian and Vice Provost for Library Affairs at Duke University.
