In addition to new student orientation, this year for the first time orientation sessions for second year students will be offered at the School of Information and Library Science at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
"In an effort to help you get through you second year a little more smoothly, we have come up with the idea of a second year student orientation," said Lara Bailey, student services manager. "These orientations will focus on what occurs during the second year and will hopefully help clear up any confusion and questions students might have."
Those who plan to graduate in December or May or August of 2013 are especially encouraged to attend one of the sessions. Topics of discussion include: course registration, the comp exam, masters papers, graduation, etc. In addition to Bailey, Career Services Coordinator, Lori Haight and faculty members Dr. Brian Sturm, associate professor; Dr. Stephanie Haas, professor; and Dr. Barbara Wildemuth, professor and associate dean for Academic Affairs will be on hand to answer questions. Those who cannot attend the sessions because of scheduling conflicts may set one-on-one appointments with Bailey to ensure they have the information they need.
