Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with major emphasis on course work in business administration, public administration, or related field and one year of experience in management of administrative activities of a business or governmental program; or completion of a two-year associate of arts degree from a community college or business college with major emphasis on course work in business, accounting, or public administration and three years experience in management of administrative activities of a business or governmental program; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates acquisition of required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Assistant or Associate Professor
October 11, 2007 - The School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites nominations and applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. The School offers the Bachelor of Science in Information Science, Master of Science in Information Science, Master of Science in Library Science, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. The School also offers an undergraduate minor in information systems, a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Information and Library Science, and a variety of graduate certificates and dual degrees. The faculty seeks an outstanding colleague with significant research and teaching strengths/potential appropriate to the broad field of information and library science. Applications are sought from those who would contribute in one or more of the following areas:
- Collections and Collecting, such as resource selection and evaluation, collections management, collection development, licensing, digital repositories, and collaborative or consortia arrangements
- Information Resources and Services, such as reference, user services, public services, user education, and information literacy instruction
- Organization of Materials, Information, and Knowledge, including cataloging, classification, and metadata
Faculty are expected to engage in research, teach, advise students, participate in School, University, and professional activities, and otherwise share their expertise at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
An earned doctorate is required. Candidates should provide evidence of research and teaching excellence, or potential for excellence, in their area of expertise. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications.

Director of Development
Sept. 12, 2007 – The School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of Development.
Responsibilities: The Director of Development will serve as the Chief Development Officer of the School of Information and Library Science and will be responsible for developing and implementing a development strategy which meets the fundraising goals established by the Dean of the School of Information and Library Science.
Principal responsibilities of the Director of Development include:
- Developing and implementing a strategic plan for fundraising at the School of Information and Library Science while communicating the vision to key constituencies.
- Developing and implementing a results-oriented evaluation system for the development function.
- Planning and implementing activities related to the identification, cultivation and generation of charitable support on behalf of the School.
- Planning and implementing a broad range of activities to serve the alumni of the School and cultivating alumni as supporters of the School.
The Director of Development will report directly to the Dean and will be a member of the Dean's Office in a senior management capacity. The Director of Development must demonstrate substantial prior experience in work related to the areas of responsibility described above.
Qualifications: A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree is preferred.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Experience developing strategic fundraising planning within a similar organization.
- Previous similar experience at a major research university is a plus.
- Capacity to anticipate both opportunities and problems and to develop initiatives suitable to both circumstances.
- An employment history highlighted by increasing levels of responsibility and a demonstrated ability to exercise sensitivity and good judgment in dealing with staff, academic faculty members and the public.
- Willingness to work with people in an environment of rapidly changing information delivery systems.
- A high energy level and the capacity to handle a heavy workload.
- Prior experience in fund raising, with a record of closing individual gifts of at least $5,000,000.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience. Benefits (including vacation leave, sick leave, and holidays) would be those of an EPA Fixed-Term Faculty position under the guidelines of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Salary Range: Based on expertise and experience.
