Scholar from Denmark visits SILS

Aug. 10, 2009 - Charles Seger Jakobsen, a visiting scholar from Denmark, has spent the last few weeks working with faculty and students at the School of Information and Library Science (SILS) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Jakobsen is a doctoral student visiting SILS from the Royal School of Library and Information Science in Denmark. His research focus is on how users are connected in information systems and how they make use of their connections [in shared bookmarking services such as Delicious.com].

While at SILS, his work has focused on interview data (transcribing and coding), which are a central part of his doctoral project.

Jakobsen's visit has been hosted by Dr. Gary Marchionini, Cary C. Boshamer Distinguished Professor at SILS.
