Shaundria Williams appointed human resources manager

Aug. 17, 2009—The School of Information and Library Science (SILS) is pleased to welcome Shaundria Williams to the role of human resources manager.

Williams comes to SILS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Nursing where she has worked as an SPA facilitator since 2007. During her time there, she managed the recruitment and hiring processes for more than 350 positions including permanent and temporary staff and faculty and non-faculty positions, and maintained electronic records and employment documentation for more than 220 employees.

As human resources manager for SILS, she will coordinate all human resources activities for the School working closely with the dean to ensure compliance with University and State personnel activities such as Equal Employment Opportunity, recruitment and leave policies as well as health and safety requirements. She will also collaborate with University Human Resources staff to administer programs related to employee benefits and other human resources activities -- managing faculty, non-faculty, SPA, student and non-student personnel actions.

"Managing human resources to ensure the University's policies and guidelines are followed is an essential function for all schools and departments on campus," said Dr. Barbara B. Moran, interim dean. "We are delighted to welcome Shaundria, who brings knowledge and experience of human resources practices and procedures to this important role for SILS."

Williams received a bachelor of arts degree in communication/public relations from East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. She is also a newlywed, marrying Torrence Williams on Nov. 15, 2008.

Welcome and congratulations, Shaundria!
