Dr. Sandra Hughes-Hassell to present during Banned Books Week

Sept. 20, 2009—Dr. Sandra Hughes-Hassell, national expert in school library media and associate professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Information and Library Science (SILS), will co-present with Duke University Ph.D. candidate Heather Mitchell, a talk entitled “From Forever to Harry Potter: Banned Books That Kids (and Adults) Love” on Thursday, October 1st at 7 p.m.

The talk will take place in the Durham County Library as part of a three-event series in honor of Banned Books Week.  Banned Books Week, which lasts from September 26th to October 3rd this year, is an American Library Association effort to promote awareness of past injustices related to the burning and banning of books.
