Dr. David Penniman, executive director of Nylink to present at SILS

Sept. 11, 2009 - Please join us for a special brownbag presentation on Tuesday, September 22nd that will feature Dr. David Penniman, executive director of Nylink. Dr. Penniman will lead a discussion entitled, "Organizational Change - A Discussion Based on Real Life Examples."

During this talk, Dr. Penniman will discuss examples of organizational change he experienced while working at AT&T Bell Labs, where he directed information services; the University of Buffalo School of Informatics, where he was the founding dean; and Nylink, a statewide multi-type library consortium Penniman continues to direct in New York State.

The brownbag will take place in Manning Hall room 14 from noon to 1:30 p.m. The event is free and open to anyone, but might be of particular interest to students and faculty who want to learn new strategies to help deal with change in both corporate and non-corporate settings.

Dr. Penniman's professional activities include previous service as Chairman of the Board of Engineering Information, Inc.; President of the American Society for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) and member of the board of advisors for the Getty Information Institute. In addition to membership in ASIS&T he is a senior member of the IEEE and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Penniman has published over 60 articles and book chapters and presented workshops and conference talks throughout the United States and abroad.
