| Dr. Joe Hewitt to be honored at symposium |
SILS professor Dr. Joe Hewitt will be honored at “A Symposium on the Future of Academic Libraries: A Celebration of the Legacy of Joe A. Hewitt” May 21. The event will celebrate the leadership, dedication and retirement of Hewitt, who is associate provost for University Libraries and the former director of the Academic Affairs Libraries. The symposium will feature guest speakers William J. Crowe, Spencer Librarian at the University of Kansas, and Alice Prochaska, university librarian at Yale University. Opening remarks will be given by David Ferriero, university librarian at Duke University; Mae Rodney, director of library services at Winston-Salem State University; and Leland M. Park, director of the library at Davidson College. The symposium will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Pleasants Family Assembly Room in Wilson Library. A reception will follow at 4 p.m. during which Provost Robert Shelton will speak. Parking for off-campus guests will be available in the N.C. 54 lot located on Raleigh Road.
