Renovations continue in Manning Hall |
|
| Visitors to Manning Hall's second floor may notice a transformation taking place. Rooms 214 and 215 are undergoing renovations to create new faculty offices and a high-tech conference room. Room 214, formerly a classroom, will become a conference room and faculty office and the current conference room, 215, will become two faculty offices. The conference room will feature technology designed to aid collaboration between presenters and participants. The room will include video-conferencing capabilities, a touch screen control panel and a SMART board, which combines the functions of a projector, computer and dry erase board, said Scott Adams, director of information technology at SILS. “The creation of several new faculty offices and an upgraded conference room is an absolutely essential addition to SILS at this time,” said SILS Dean Joanne Gard Marshall. “It will mean that faculty members do not have to share offices. The space limitations in Manning Hall continue to be a challenge for the school and this is only the beginning of a complete renovation plan that is underway.” To be a part of these improvements to the School of Information and Library Science, designate your gift to the “SILS Renovation Fund” online at http://carolinafirst.unc.edu or by mail to Carolina, P.O. Box 309, Chapel Hill, NC 27514-0309. |
