Pictures from the Steinfirst Lecture

Children's book illustrator Paul O. Zelinsky shared his artistic process in a lecture enlivened by storytelling, reminiscences, and slides – as well as drawing pictures on a large easel – to an audience that gathered at UNC at Chapel Hill on March 27.

Zelinsky depicted his life and work in drawings as well as words during his lecture. Four-year-old Olivia Jenkins looks at one of Zelinsky's books after the talk.

Zelinsky signs and distributes sketches rendered during his talk to young fans. Gene Story, who established the Susan Steinfirst Lecture in Children's Literature in memory of his late wife, welcomes Zelinsky.
