Purpose

The information science major (BSIS) is designed to prepare its graduates for a variety of careers in the information industry, including information architecture; database design and implementation; Web design and implementation; and networking support and information consulting; as well as for graduate study. What is Information Science?

Information science is the study of cognitive, social, technological, and organizational roles of information in all its forms.

To learn more about the possibility of gaining experience while receiving class credit, check out the Field Experience Program. Students are mentored by a supervising professional in the organization, as well as by a SILS professor.
