Course Descriptions
The descriptions for the courses offered within the School of Information Library Science (SILS) courses may be found in the SILS entry within the UNC Catalog. The course prefix for SILS is INLS. Special topics can be found here
Course numbers and receiving credit:
- Undergraduate juniors and seniors may take courses numbered 200 through 699.
- Undergraduate students wishing to take a course numbered 700 through 999 need permission of their advisor.
- Graduate students may not receive credit for courses numbered below 400.
Prerequisites: When a prerequisite or co-requisite is listed for a course, it may be assumed that an equivalent course taken elsewhere, or permission of instructor also fulfills the prerequisite or co-requisite. The course instructor must approve the equivalency of the substitute course.
Syllabi: Many previous course syllabi can be found in the SILS Syllabus Repository. If you cannot find a previous syllabus (an example might be a new special topics course), you should feel free to contact the instructor for more details
