On December 7th, 2011, from 12:30 to 3:15 p.m., the SILS Metadata Research Center will celebrate its 5th year anniversary. This event also celebrates the 80th anniversary for the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
We’ll be holding a “Metadata Marathon” and sponsoring a lunch. Metadata experts will give lightening talks highlighting research topics/areas; breakout groups will discuss current and long-term metadata-related research needs and approaches; and the final reporting will fold into a collective publication. The celebration will close with a special report from Thomas Baker, Chief Information Officer, Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI), and co-chair of the W3C Library Linked Data Incubator Group.
A more detailed schedule is posted @: http://ils.unc.edu/mrc/metadata-marathon/
Register from the marathon page or directly @: http://tinyurl.com/3ot8v88
Registration is required as well as endurance! There is no cost; we simply need a head count for the lunch.
Looking forward to seeing metadata friends and colleagues, old and new!
