Join us for a SILS CRADLE talk by Josh Rice (BSIS ’13, MSIS ’14), "Splunk 101-Intro to an Operational Intelligence, Big Data Platform," Friday, March 24, 12:00 p.m., in Manning 208.

Abstract: The talk will provide an overview of Splunk software, and will include interactive exercises and live demonstration (including basic front-end / back-end, example customer use cases, premium apps, and areas Splunk touches - infrastructure monitoring, Security SIEM, IOT, etc.). It will also discuss Splunk job roles (dashboarding, administrating, professional services, sales engineering, etc.), and will provide plenty of time for questions and discussion.

Bio: Josh Rice is a consulting engineer in the field of cybersecurity. He currently travels to customer sites to implement and build enterprise solutions while working with some of the largest customers in the public sector and commercial space. His background includes working at Cisco Systems as a back-end information security engineer and then moving to Deloitte to kick-start his consulting career. Josh holds a BSIS & MSIS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
