The UNC School of Information and Library Science (SILS) is consistently ranked as one of the top schools of library and information studies by U.S. News & World Report. The most recent rankings placed SILS at #1 for Health Librarianship and Digital Librarianship, and #3 overall.
SILS tied as the #1 program in the world in the 2018 QS Rankings.
Each year, SILS presents several awards to recognize excellence by our students, staff, and faculty, including the The Deborah Barreau Award for Teaching Excellence and the Dean’s Achievement Award for best master’s papers. In cooperation with the SILS Alumni Association (SILSAA), the School also honors students for outstanding service and alumni for distinguished professional achievements.
