The primary mission of the UNC School of Information and Library Science (SILS) Alumni Association (SILSAA) is to foster positive and productive relationships between SILS alumni and current students. SILSAA provides opportunities for alumni to give back to current students, maintain contact with classmates, develop new contacts within the library and information professions, and draw attention to distinguished achievement within the SILS family.

Each year, the alumni associate presents the Distinguished Alumni Award and the Rising Star Alumni Award. Nominations typically open in the late fall. Learn more about the awards and past recipients.

Students value the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom and gain real world experience. You can invite individual students or student teams to complete a project for your organization, and help mentor students as a project supervisor.
