Join guests from the Library of Congress, School of Information and Library Science (SILS) students and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Libraries staff for a celebration that features a blitz on cataloging research. "A Cataloging Research Blitz: Celebrating 2010 as the Year of Cataloging Research!" will take place Monday, April 19, 2010.
The fun will begin at 3:00-4:00 p.m. in 214 Davis Library on the UNC at Chapel Hill campus.
This is the first *blitz* of three (3), sponsored by the SILS Metadata Research Center and the UNC University Libraries, to celebrate 2010 as the year of cataloging research.
Several SILS students and UNC library staff will "blitz" through their cataloging/metadata research. They'll be given approximately two to three minutes each for a total of 25 minutes of blitzing.
Three distinguished guests from the Library of Congress will provide brief commentary.
Library of Congress guests include:
~ Barbara B Tillett, Chief, Policy and Standards Division, LC
~ Libby Dechman, Senior Policy Specialist, LC
~ Ed Summers, Software Developer/Librarian, LC
The event also features a social, meet and greet activity, where participants and guests can discuss cataloging research, have a chance to talk more to the "blitz" presenters and interact with our guests from the Library of Congress.
The blitz and social are free and open to all!
The celebration is sponsored by Jane Greenberg, professor, SILS, and Director of the SILS Metadata Research Center and by Margaretta J. Yarborough, head of Resource Description and Management, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Libraries.
