The School of Information and Library Science (SILS) welcomes Kaitlyn Murphy as its new undergraduate student services manager. In this role, she will manage the School’s bachelor of science in information science undergraduate program, providing support for prospective and current students regarding registration, program requirements and University deadlines. She will work closely with faculty, communicating student progress for advising purposes, and with other administrative units on campus. Murphy will also compile statistics and other information related to the School's financial aid awards.

Cox, director of Business Operations for SILS. “Her experience and education in higher education, especially her background in student affairs, are welcome skills imperative to the position. We are happy she has joined the SILS family.”
Murphy previously served as interim program coordinator in Northern Illinois University's Study Abroad Office, in DeKalb, IL where she worked with students and study abroad affiliates. In that role, she advised students on study abroad program options specific to their academic, career and personal interests, and managed, processed and monitored student applications and acceptance materials into the program. She was also responsible for coordinating and implementing activities and events such as recruitment fairs, workshops, orientations and campus visits. She promoted the program by conducting classroom presentations and informational sessions for prospective students, developing marketing materials and updating the Web site.
Murphy obtained her master of science in adult and higher education with emphasis in student affairs, and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Northern Illinois University.
