Tammy Cox, director of Business Operations, has received the 2010 SILS Staff Excellence Award.
The award is presented to a SILS staff member who has demonstrated excellence, commitment, teamwork and outstanding service to the School. Those nominating Cox agreed that she has all of the qualities needed for this award. One of her nominators said, “She is always pleasant and professional, continuously provides outstanding service by answering any question asked about financial services, human resources or administrative functions.” Another said, "She provides exceptional service, she is reliable, the quality of her work is dependable, and from my perspective, she exceeds any expectation—with a smile."
Among a myriad of tasks, Cox oversees the SILS Administrative Offices managing the many day-to-day financial and administrative transactions. In addition, she directs staff in Contract and Grants Services, Student Services and Human Resources as well as temporary and student assistants to ensure the office runs smoothly.
The presentation of the award by Dr. Gary Marchionini, dean and Cary C. Boshamer distinguished professor, was held during the SILS holiday celebration in the Administrative Offices of Manning Hall on December 20 with fellow staff members and faculty present.
Cox received a framed certificate, $500 and three additional paid days of leave. Her name will also be submitted for the Chancellor’s Award in spring 2011.
Congratulations, Tammy!
