"A Gathering of Stars" is this year's Winter Stories theme for children and adults of all ages. This happy holiday event features storytelling by Dr. Brian Sturm, associate professor and SILS students Keith Beisner, Becky Carlson, Susan Metallo and Megan Ward.

Can’t You Sleep, Little Bear? by Martin Wassell: adapted by Keith Beisner
The Boy Who Found the Light (Inuit): Retold by Susan Metallo
Aristaeus and the Bees (Roman): Retold by Veronica Koven-Matasy
How the Summer Queen Came to Canada (First Nations): Retold by Brian Sturm
Wild Onion Women (Native American: Monache): Retold by Megan Ward
The North Star as written in Mrs. Mike: The Story of Katherine Mary Flannigan by Benedict & Nancy Freedman: Adapted by Becky Carlson
Musical entertainment will be led by SILS library assistant Kate Barnhart (guitar) with musicians Terry Patrikis (flute) and Renee McBride (vocal) and SILS students Veronica Koven-Matasy (viola), Ericka Patillo (harp) and Hannah Pierce (cello).
Musical numbers include:
Minstrel Boy, Merriweather, The Holly and the Ivy, A Cape Breton Waltz, Pat-A-Pan, S’vivon sov sov sov, Snow is Falling (a round), Greensleeves instrumental and a Jingle Bells sing-a-long.
The Book Fairy Book Drive will end at the Winter Stories program. If you have a new or gently used book you would like to donate, please bring it with you or drop it off in one of the locations on campus including Manning Hall.
The reception will begin in the Wilson Library lobby with a cookie reception. The entertainment will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Pleasants Family Assembly Room. The event is free and open to the public. Please attend and bring your little ones along for a fun evening. You won't want to miss this extraordinary program!
