A SILS 80th Anniversary Celebration
Information Professional 2050 (IP 2050) Conference June 5, 2012 - featuring thought leaders in the information professions at a one-day conference in Chapel Hill.
As the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Information and Library Science celebrates the ending of its 80th anniversary year, it will take a forward look at the future of our field and its graduates. The results of this event are expected to influence strategic planning and contribute to the challenges faced by all educators, employers and policy makers as they work together to ensure a bright future for the Information Professionals of 2050 and beyond.
The IP 2050 Conference will highlight selected position statements from information and library science leaders who will be asked to address key issues related to future visions, skills and values. Response panels will be used to comment on the papers and the issues raised.
Themes of the day include the areas of the 1) Information Industry, 2) Libraries and Archives, 3) Education and 4) Information Trends. Following the Conference, the contributors will be invited to prepare final versions of their papers for publication as a monograph in both paper and e-book forms.
