Kaitlyn Murphy, student services manager, undergraduate and organizer of SILS team; Lara Bailey, student services manager, graduate; Susan Sylvester, executive assistant to the dean; Shaundria Williams, human resources manager; Tammy Cox, assistant dean of administration; Lori Haight, career services coordinator; Mark Snyder, desktop support and help desk manager; Heather Lewis, health informatics coordinator; Tom Caruso, health information liaison research associate; and faculty members Evelyn Daniel, dean emerita; Gary Marchionini, dean and Cary C. Boshamer Distinguished Professor; Ron Bergquist, clinical assistant professor; and Brian Sturm, associate professor - along with Margarita, Evelyn's faithful golden labrador - made up the SILS team who finished the run/walk on a cold and rainy day in Chapel Hill. The group chose M&Ms as the theme for their costumes and wore antlers to finish the festive look.
The group made a canned food donation on behalf of SILS to a local shelter and pet donations went to the Orange County Animal Shelter. All participants were eligible for prize drawings following the run/walk. Heather Lewis was one of the recipients. She received a UNC at Chapel Hill magnet and a gift certificate to Kildare’s Pub. Sadly, the award for best team costume went to another group this year.
