EPA Librarian, Jane Bethel, participates in Charleston Conference

January 25, 2013

Jane BethelJane Bethel, Electronic Resources/Reference Librarian at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Library, was a member of a panel discussion at the 32nd Charleston Conference on November 8, 2012. The session was titled "A Conversation with Technical Services Librarians and Publishers: A Workshop on Process Enhancement."

A panel of eight librarians and publishers discussed routine practices. Each panel member expressed pain points that make their job difficult. It was hoped that librarians and publishers could learn more about each others' processes that would widen communication and assist in quicker problem resolution.

"Our aim was to generate interest in a standardized practice between technical services librarians and publishers," said Bethel.

Bethel is a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Information and Library Science librarian, contracted by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Research Triangle Park (RTP), North Carolina.
