Speed Networking Event: A Student's Opportunity to Meet Information and Library Science Professionals

February 20, 2013

Are you a student who is starting to think about the job market or looking for a field experience site? Interested in meeting potential contacts? Too busy to network and keep up with coursework or your master's paper? Hungry for pizza?

The SILS Alumni Association (SILSAA) and Information and Library Science Student Association (ILSSA) have the solution for you: SPEED NETWORKING!

The event will be held on Wednesday, March 27 - 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Pleasants Family Assembly Room of Wilson Library.

Similar to speed dating, information and library professionals are on one side of a u-shaped table set-up and students are on the other side. With three minutes to meet and learn about one-another, the bell will ring and students will move to the next person to learn talk with the professional. The bell will ring every three minutes until everyone has met.

When the formal event has ended, pizza and soda will be served and you'll have another opportunity to talk in more depth with professionals in the fields that interest you.

Former students have found jobs and internships through previous speed networking events. It's a great way to meet new professionals who may be looking for talented individuals to fill open positions. It's a great way to network in a short period of time.

Make sure to attend to take advantage of this fun and terrific opportunity to meet experts and alumni in the field of information and library science.
