Deb Morley (MSLS 1993), alumna of the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has been appointed to the position of head of the Reference and Instructional Services Department at the University of Delaware Library effective August 2014.
Morley has been serving as the head of Specialized Content and Services at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Libraries in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she provided leadership in the planning, implementation, administration and assessment of a suite of robust and growing services focused on specialized formats and technology intensive data types.
Her professional interests include the transformation of research library services to support the advancement of digital scholarship and research, and collaborations between college librarians and school teacher librarians to strengthen students’ information literacy skills as they progress from high school to college.
In addition to her MSLS, Morley holds master's and bachelor's degrees in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Ohio University in Athens, OH. She is presently working to complete a Master of Education at Salem State University in Massachusetts.
