The School of Information and Library Science (SILS) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill welcomed Kesley Mumpower as desktop support and Help Desk manager on March 31, 2014.
In his new position, Mumpower will provide personal computing support for the faculty, staff, and students within SILS. He will be responsible for installing, configuring, supporting and administering personal computing for all end-users of SILS. This includes providing technical and analytical assistance in support of computing needs as they pertain to academic, research and administrative activities. He will also provide desktop support and training in operating systems and applications, and for moving and changing equipment.
Mumpower comes to SILS from the University of South Carolina’s Department of English where he worked as an Information Technology manager with over 200 users and a broad range of technological needs. Prior to his appointment at USC, he was an "easy technical lead" and sales associate at Staples, Inc. where he provided in-store technology support for customers.
“Kesley will be responsible for all desktop computing support and will work closely with the SILS Help Desk to provide a first point of contact for IT related issues,” said Aaron Brubaker, director of Information Technology at SILS. “We are very fortunate to have a person with such a strong relevant work history and demonstrated customer support skills.”
Mumpower received his bachelor’s in arts and completed Graduate Studies in Speech Communication & Rhetoric at the University of South Carolina. He has an associate of science degree from Midlands Technical College in West Columbia, S.C.
