SILS Alumni to Host Webinar on Information Literacy Instruction

Dani BrecherUNC at Chapel Hill School of Information and Library Science (SILS) alumni Dani Brecher (MSLS '13) and Kevin Klipfel (MSLS ’13) have recently been given the opportunity to lead a professional development webinar on information literacy, hosted by the educational technology website EasyBib.

The webinar, titled “Communicating the Value of Information Literacy Instruction,” will be held January 21st at 3:00pm.

“A central challenge for teaching librarians is articulating practical ways librarians can help students develop critical thinking and information literacy skills in the classroom. This webinar will provide concrete strategies for building a cohesive narrative about library instruction’s value and offers several metaphors for conveying what we do to stakeholders.”

Kevin KlipvelBrecher and Klipfel were chosen to lead the webinar based on their library blog, “Rule Number One.”

In addition to running their blog, Brecher currently works as the Instructional Design and Technology Librarian at The Claremont Colleges Library in Claremont, California, while Klipfel works as the Information Literacy Coordinator at California State University, Chico.
