Anthony Holderied has been appointed Director of the Environmental Protection Agency Library in Research Triangle Park, effective August 26. Holderied had been Assistant Director of the EPA-RTP Library since 2013 and has 14 years of professional librarian experience. Prior to joining the EPA-RTP Library, he was an Instructional Technology Specialist at NC State University. He holds an MLS from North Carolina Central University and an MA in Educational Media from Appalachian State University.
Holderied succeeds Susan Forbes in the director’s role. Forbes, who had been director since 2013 and with the EPA-RTP Library since 2005, has been appointed Assistant State Librarian for North Carolina. Under Forbes’ leadership, the EPA-RTP Library expanded its services to better meet the needs of the 2,000 EPA staff and contractors at the RTP campus, earning the Library its second Federal Library and Information Network (FEDLINK) Small Library/Information Center of the Year Award in 2017.
The UNC School of Information and Library Science (SILS) has been contracted to operate the EPA-RTP Library for over 40 years. It is one of 25 libraries in the EPA National Library Network, and the only one staffed by university employees.
