"The skill set that SILS provides its students is something that can be applied across all fields making it one of the most flexible courses of study on campus."

How has your career progressed since you graduated SILS?

After graduaing from SILS, I completed a research project detailing what causes online videos to go viral through the University of Pittsburgh's i3 iSchool Inclusion Institute. I have worked at UPS in marketing analytics since graduation, and have been promoted to a senior analyst role.

In your current employment, what are your job duties and responsibilities?

Right now, I am responsible for launching and monitoring the performance of a predictive analytics tool. In the past, I helped create campaigns that targeted which customers are most likely to do new business with UPS. I also created an interactive dashboard that quickly analyzed data and identified key performance indicators for programs targeting small businesses.

How did your time at SILS prepare you for the future?

SILS helped me hone my computer skills even more while also introducing me to new organizational and project planning concepts. I use what I learned from my database, spreadsheet, and information search courses daily to successfully complete my job.

Is there any other information you would like to share, or any advice you would like to offer current or future SILS students?

SILS is a great school because after leaving you're prepared to jump into so many different fields. Having employees who able are to adapt quickly to new emerging technology - as well as to the people around them - is something that every company needs. The skill set that SILS provides its students is something that can be applied across all fields making it one of the most flexible courses of study on campus.
