SILS Associate Professor Cal Lee introduced the program at SILS in 2006, and two students have benefitted from the scholarships funded by MER sponsor Cohasset Associates each year since. ![]() Malawian innovator and author William Kamkwamba is working with the WiderNet Project and WiderNet@UNC to create learning modules that will encourage people to seek out new knowledge and apply it through meaningful projects. During the spring semester, Kamkwamba visited Associate Professor Cliff Missen's Database Systems class to share his experiences and provide input on a class project. William H. “Bill” Graves, Ph.D., a SILS Board of Visitors member, died on April 9, 2016, after a protracted and valiant struggle with brain cancer. A celebration of Dr. Graves’ life will be held Monday, June 6, at 2 p.m. at the Carolina Club in the George Watts Hill Alumni Center. Click to read more.
