New Associate Dean of Development
Please join us in a warm welcome to Ty Cole. Ty started his new role as Associate Dean of Development at the School of Information and Library Science (SILS) in October 2023.
Ty comes to UNC from Penn State University, where he served in three progressively responsible positions. He started his career as an Annual Leadership Gifts Officer. He subsequently spent two years as Director of Development and Alumni Relations at the Penn State Shenango Campus, where he led fundraising and alumni relations efforts for the campus, staffed the campus director and board, and increased fundraising results, including successful completion of the campus-level campaign. After a short stint outside higher ed in sales, he returned to Penn State as Director of Alumni Development, a major gifts role supporting Penn State’s Alumni Association. In that role, he managed both annual giving and a major gift portfolio, staffed the CEO of the Alumni Association and traveled extensively supporting donor contact nationally, and Alumni Association events.
Ty is a double alum of Penn State with an undergraduate degree in corporate communications and a master’s in public administration.
He brings a broad range of development experience across the annual giving, major giving, volunteer management, and alumni relations spaces. We are excited to have him join the team at this pivotal moment, to grow and expand fundraising efforts at SILS.
