SILS plans virtual commencement to celebrate 2020 and 2021 grads

The UNC School of Information and Library Science (SILS) is planning its first ever virtual commencement ceremony.

We will be recognizing both our 2020 and 2021 graduates on Thursday, May 13, at 7:00 pm EST. The ceremony will be hosted via Zoom, as well as live streamed on the SILS YouTube channel.

As with our traditional in-person ceremonies, each graduate who chooses to attend will be recognized individually with a slide that includes your name, photo, and short message.

Graduates who wish to participate should complete the SILS 2021 Commencement Registration Form by April 19.

Please contact Lara Bailey at ljbailey@email.unc.edu or Shayna Flint at sflint@email.unc.edu with any questions or concerns you have.

SILS will be participating in the University-wide spring commencement ceremonies, however, we hope this virtual event will allow for more personalized recognition for SILS graduates and wider opportunities for family members and friends to enjoy the celebration.

Based on responses to the registration form, SILS may also plan an event to coincide with the University’s class of 2020 reunion and commencement weekend Oct. 9-10.
