Next SILS faculty ‘Ask Me Anything’ on Friday
As part of its 90th anniversary celebration, the UNC School of Information and Library Science (SILS) is hosting a series of faculty Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions.
The next event on Friday, Aug. 27, will feature SILS Associate Professor Jaime Arguello and Teaching Assistant Professor Megan Winget.

More about the speakers
Dr. Jaime Arguello teaches courses and conducts research in the areas of information retrieval, data mining, and machine learning. His main area of research is aggregated search, where the goal is to develop search systems that integrate results from multiple independent sources. His most recent research studies how users interact with aggregated search displays and how differences in display affect users’ expectations and behaviors. He publishes regularly at information retrieval venues such as SIGIR, ECIR, CIKM, and IIIX, and he has been awarded multiple grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to support his research.
Dr. Megan Winget earned her MSIS from SILS in 1999 and her PhD in 2006. While at Carolina, she worked in the University Archives, the Southern Historical Collection, the Rare Book Room, and for Documenting the American South. From 2006 to 2013, she taught at the University of Texas at Austin, where she specialized in digital preservation, specifically of new media artifacts like video games and new media art. She then worked as an independent consultant for industry, focusing on taxonomy development and leveraging big data to improve business systems. She became a full-time member of the SILS faculty in 2018.
