Maggie Melo, Assistant Professor at the UNC School of Information and Library Science (SILS), and Jennifer Nichols, Digital Scholarship Librarian at the University of Arizona, co-authored the new collection, which captures how librarians and educators have disrupted and re-made their makerspaces in response to the constraints of the predominant “maker culture.”
The four sections of the book include the following:
- Who Belongs in the Makerspace? Power and Critical Theories
- Movement, Empathy, and Inclusion in Youth Makerspaces
- Counternarratives
- Re-imagined Makerspaces: Policies, Procedures, and Culture
Melo and Nichols will discuss the content and structure of the book, as well as the impacts of COVID-19 on current makerspace practice.
The publisher will raffle two copies of the book during the event. For more information, visit litwinbooks.com
