Anne Webb joining SILS as first Deputy Director of Development

The UNC School of Information and Library Science (SILS) announced today that Anne Webb, currently Assistant Dean of Advancement at the UNC School of Nursing, will join SILS in August as the School’s first Deputy Director of Development. Webb will work in close partnership with Director of Development Stephanie Kretz, who will retire in December.

The focus of Webb’s work with Nursing – as it will be at SILS – is major gift solicitation, alumni relations, stewardship, board management, special events, and annual giving. She directs the “Campaign for Carolina Nursing” (part of the For All Kind Campaign for Carolina), which is 93% to its $22 million goal. She also leads a team of three development professionals and serves on the Nursing Dean’s leadership team.

“Anne is an excellent fit for the SILS environment and culture – where we are today and how we will grow,” Dean Gary Marchionini said in an email to the SILS community. “We are pleased to be doubling the SILS Development team.”

Webb is a Carolina alumna (BA ’94) and holds a Master of Public Administration from UNC-Greensboro.

At Nursing since 2001, she has secured more than $30 Million in private resources for the School and built relationships that will sustain the organization’s future for years to come.

The search committee for the new Deputy Director of Development included Kretz, SILS Associate Dean of Administration Tammy Cox, SILS Associate Professors Jaime Arguello and Brian Sturm, and University Development representatives Sherry Brennan and Jeff Hill.
